Devlog #2
The past week of Jan 30th - Feb 5th has been exciting! All three teams have begun serious work into the game, and we have a solidified vision going forward into the next week! Here's a quick snapshot into what went on in the past week:
Team Meeting!
We had our second team-wide meeting last week on Wednesday night, where almost everyone in our team came to catch up and distribute work!
🤖 CS Gang Updates
This week we managed to create a working prototype going in Unity, along with some of the core movements / interactions implemented. These include: travelling between two levels, moving objects and changing objects upon hitting a certain milestone! Here's the link to the video we recorded: link
Using Minecraft, we also started to create flowcharts of various levels we'd want to see implemented. This allowed us to settle down on many design philosophies that we'll be using for any future puzzles we make, but also lets us flesh out more of our proposed puzzle designs. Who knew that using another game to model our game would help us so much?
🎨 Art Squad Updates
After the in-person meeting on Wednesday, our art squad have been hard at work!
Here are some furniture and room design concept art that Yan had done. It showcases the furniture changes between the same room, but in both the "Past" level and the "Future" level. Amazing!
Many of the furniture shown in the concept art will be brought to life to 3D models and put into the various levels in our game.
Nimah has also started taking a stab at modelling some of the furniture we'll need for the game:
And Chloe drew some concept art of a character that will act as the player's narrator:
🎶 Music Ensemble Updates
The Music Ensemble was given a very hard challenge this week, which was to make the main musical motif that will be placed within all of the music that will be present in the game. This motif should encompass the feelings of the past, with some melancholy and nostalgia, but also a zest for the future! Mimi will be taking a stab at composing the motif.
Fionn also did some fantastic sound effect work, including sound effects for TV white noise and the sounds a Grandfather Clock would make. (Not sure how
That's all for now! See you next week 💖
